Rep. Wait Teams with Nike in Reuse-A-Shoe Program
Belvidere, IL… State Representative Ron Wait (R, Belvidere) announced his participation in Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe program. The Reuse-A-Shoe program has recycled more than 20 million pairs of old athletic shoes. The recycled shoes are then used to build sports surfaces such as basketball courts, tennis courts, athletic fields, running tracks and playgrounds. Over the years, the program has created more than 250 sport surfaces.
“This is a great program and it’s something I’m proud to be a part of,” stated Wait. “Everyone has an extra pair of shoes they don’t wear; now they can just come by my office and donate them.”
Wait to Host Office Hours in Communities Across the District
Belvidere, IL…State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) announced his community office hours schedule for 2008. Community office hours provide a convenient opportunity for residents to ask questions, share their concerns, and receive assistance with state government services.
Along with the community office hours, Representative Wait and staff also hold regular hours in his Rockford office. The Rockford office is open every Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is located in the Zeke Giorgi Building at 200 S. Wyman, Rockford, IL (815-987-7483).
IDOT Six Year Road Plan Allocates $22.6 Million to 69th District
Springfield, IL… Finally, commuters will have some relief from those dreaded pot holes plaguing Boone, DeKalb and Winnebago Counties. According to State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere), the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has allocated $22.6 million in funding for several critical road projects in their six-year-plan.
Representative Wait Demands Emergency Action on Relief from Skyrocketing Gas Prices
Springfield, IL… With gas prices topping $4.00 per gallon in Illinois, a group of House Republicans, including State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere), today demanded immediate action on legislation to provide desperately needed relief at the pump for local families and businesses. Wait and House Republicans called on their Democrat colleagues to join them today in passing legislation suspending the state sales tax on gasoline through the busy spring and summer driving months.
Representative Wait stressed that gas tax relief is not only necessary, it is also affordable.

Rep. Wait Honors Robert Turner
Springfield, IL… The Illinois House of Representatives on Wednesday adopted a resolution sponsored by State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) mourning the death of Robert L. Turner.
“Bob Turner was a great community leader and a dear friend,” Wait said. “Our hearts go out to his family and to the community which he served so well.”
Rep. Wait Launches Summer Reading Program
Belvidere, IL… State Representative Ron Wait’s (R-Belvidere) district office has sent out brochures officially launching his Summer Reading Program for students in the first through fifth grades.

The governor has single handedly dismantled state government, and Democrats who control the General Assembly have buried us under a mountain of debt and unpaid bills while ignoring pleas for relief from high gas prices, property taxes and more funding for schools and roads. People are demoralized, tired and want a change.
Rep. Wait Opposes Pay Raise
Springfield, IL… What a difference a day makes. Yesterday, State Representative Ron Wait’s (R-Belvidere) request to bring legislation opposing a legislative pay raise to the House Floor was denied by House Democrats in a vote along party lines. Yet, just 24 hours later, House Democrats decided the idea wasn’t so bad after all. They brought forward an identical resolution for a vote the very next day.
Rep. Wait: Critical Agriculture Funding Released
Belvidere, IL… At a press conference today at the Boone County Extension Office, State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) said he is pleased the Governor has finally agreed to release critical state funds for the University of Illinois Extension Service and Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD). Being one of the few legislators that is also a farmer, Representative Wait brought this issue to a joint House/Senate Agriculture Hearing where the devastating effect of cutting this program was heard.
