Rep. Wait Provides Easier Access to E85 and Biodiesel Information
Springfield, IL… In a “Go Green” effort down in Springfield, State Representative Ron Wait’s (R-Belvidere) bill, House Bill 271, was signed by the governor to grant consumers easier access to ethanol and biodiesel fuel information. The bill provides that each state agency that maintains an internet web site may include hypertext links to websites containing information on ethanol and biodiesel fuels.
“E85 and biodiesel are the future of motor fuels in this county,” stated Wait. “We needed to make easier access to information about these fuels to help the environment and to help people ease into the transition of cleaner fuels. This legislation will help consumers learn where these fuels are available, what vehicles are able to use the fuels and most importantly, encourage the usage of these fuels.”
Representative Wait introduced this bill first into the House where it passed unanimously 116-0. The bill then passed the Senate unanimously 56-0 on May 20, and the governor signed it into law today.
“I was very excited to see this measure pass the House and the Senate without quarrel,” said Wait. “It goes to show how Illinois supports and is ready for the transition to cleaner fuels.”
With the bill being signed by the governor, it has now become a public act. The bill was supported by the Illinois Farm Bureau, the Illinois Corn Growers Association and the American Lung Association of Illinois.
