Rep. Wait Teams with Nike in Reuse-A-Shoe Program
Belvidere, IL… State Representative Ron Wait (R, Belvidere) announced his participation in Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe program. The Reuse-A-Shoe program has recycled more than 20 million pairs of old athletic shoes. The recycled shoes are then used to build sports surfaces such as basketball courts, tennis courts, athletic fields, running tracks and playgrounds. Over the years, the program has created more than 250 sport surfaces.
“This is a great program and it’s something I’m proud to be a part of,” stated Wait. “Everyone has an extra pair of shoes they don’t wear; now they can just come by my office and donate them.”
Only athletic shoes will be accepted and they can be any brand. Shoes containing metal, spikes, dress or damp shoes cannot be recycled through this program.
Representative Wait will be accepting donated shoes at his district office during regular office hours, Monday-Friday. Also, in conjunction with his traveling office hours, Representative Wait will be happy to collect any used athletic shoes at the locations and times listed below.
