Rep. Wait Launches Summer Reading Program
Belvidere, IL… State Representative Ron Wait’s (R-Belvidere) district office has sent out brochures officially launching his Summer Reading Program for students in the first through fifth grades.
“The greatest skill any person can have is the ability to read,” stated Wait. “Encouraging continued reading throughout the summer is vital to making sure our children are active readers. I feel honored to be a part of these kids’ educational growth.”
Wait’s reading program encourages first through fifth graders to become “Reading Rangers.” Once a student reads eight books, fills out a form and sends it back into Representative Wait’s office, he or she becomes a “Reading Ranger.” Books over 150 pages will count as two books. The deadline to send back the form is August 1st.
The first 150 Reading Rangers will be invited to a pool party hosted by Representative Wait in August. Every student who takes part in the program will receive a certificate.
In the brochure, Representative Wait explains to students how Reading Rangers can become heroes:
“Anyone can become a hero through the power of reading,” says Wait in his brochure. “Becoming a Reading Ranger will open up unlimited possibilities, take you on many adventures and keep your mind active and strong for years to come. By using your time this summer to read, you will find that you will have more fun and go to countless exciting places without ever leaving your home. This summer, make sure reading is a part of your everyday fun, and you too can be a hero.”
