Rep. Wait Honors Robert Turner
Springfield, IL… The Illinois House of Representatives on Wednesday adopted a resolution sponsored by State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) mourning the death of Robert L. Turner.
“Bob Turner was a great community leader and a dear friend,” Wait said. “Our hearts go out to his family and to the community which he served so well.”
Robert Turner passed away on April 22nd, 2008 at the age of 75. Turner was born on December 25th, 1932, in Belvidere and was the son of Henry E. and Lucille M. Turner. In 1981, Turner became the Belvidere Township Supervisor. He was the director of the Township Officials of Illinois for more than fifteen years, serving as president of the Supervisors’ Division in 2003-2004. He served in many different community organizations and is survived by his wife, Roberta, his children, Jill and Robert and his grandchildren, Jacob and Benjamin.
“I will always remember Bob as the man who helped start my career,” said Wait. “Bob sold me a bicycle, which I used to deliver newspapers, and then later, he was co-chairman of my committee to become a candidate for state representative in 1982 and in subsequent years.”
A copy of the resolution will be presented to the family of Robert Turner as a symbol of sincere sympathy.
