Wait Announces National Guard Assistance Grants
August 30, 2007
Springfield, IL…State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) won the acceptance of his National Guard Assistance Program after the legislation overwhelmingly passed both houses of the General Assembly and was signed by the governor. Wait’s legislation, House Bill 272, assists National Guardsmen and Reservists with buying homes upon their return to Illinois after fighting in the Global War on Terror.
“The young men and women fighting overseas in the War on Terror deserve all of the support and assistance we can give them,” Wait said. “Their sacrifices are extraordinary and ensuring they can secure housing upon their return is a privilege, an honor, and a duty that we must fulfill.”
The program, administered by the Illinois Housing Development Authority, will help eligible applicants with a portion of the down payment for the purchase of a home upon his or her return to Illinois. Legal Illinois residents who are a member of the Illinois National Guard or the reserves of the U.S. Armed Forces called to active duty for the Global War on Terror are eligible for the homebuyer assistance program.
Representative Wait’s 69th legislative district encompasses parts of Rockford and Winnebago County, Boone County, and several townships in DeKalb County. He may be reached at his district office in Belvidere at 411 South State Street or by calling
