Wait, Winters Will Discuss State Budget Via Tele-Town Hall Meeting
July 17, 2007
Springfield, IL … State Representatives Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) and Dave Winters (R-Shirland) invite residents to participate in an interactive tele-town hall meeting on Thursday, July 19.
Residents who reside in the 69th and 68th House districts will receive a phone call from the lawmakers who will discuss the state budget and ongoing budget negotiations. Participating residents will be able to interact with the lawmakers and ask questions during the free phone call.
“Calling constituents while we’re working in Springfield is an innovative way to connect with residents, keep them up-to-date on the budget negotiations, and get their opinions and feedback,” Wait said.
Both Wait and Winters have been working to advance a sensible budget that will fund Illinois’ agencies, departments, and services through the next fiscal year. Wait and Winters joined House Republican Leader Tom Cross (R-Oswego) in proposing the House Republican NO Tax Increase Budget earlier this year.
“Our constituents sent us to Springfield to represent their interests and ensure that Illinois remains financially stable,” Winters said, “but the top Democrats in the legislature and Governor Blagojevich have failed to lead and have put their own egos and interests ahead of the people’s well being.”
Residents will receive a call on Thursday and need only answer their phone to participate in the free forum. For more information or questions, residents may contact either Representative Wait’s district office at 411 S. State St., Belvidere or call (815) 547-7771 or Representative Winter’s district office at 3444 N. Main, Suite 80, Rockford or call (815) 282-0083.
