Wait: $18.2 Million in Local Projects Included in IDOT Plan

Belvidere, IL…The Illinois Department of Transportation has earmarked over $18 million for local transportation projects State Representative Ron Wait said. Wait (R-Belvidere) added that IDOT proposed projects in all three counties of the 69th legislative district - Boone, DeKalb, and Winnebago.
“I’m glad to see that IDOT shares my desire to maintain and improve the transportation infrastructure in Northern Illinois,” Wait said. “As Spokesman of the Illinois House Transportation Committee, I have continued to advocate for the transportation needs of my district.”
Projects slated to begin in 2008 include improvements to the Turtle Creek Rest Area just South of Wisconsin and, contingent upon joint funding requirements, a bridge rehabilitation project for Perryville Road.
Future projects proposed by IDOT’s 6-year plan include:
● $1,950,000 for planning and engineering around the US 20 / I-39 interchange in Winnebago County.
● $6,600,000 for planning and engineering for improvements to the US 20 Rockford bypass from IL 2 to I-39.
● $2,250,000 for resurfacing of the US 20 Westbound ramp to Townhall Rd. in Belvidere.
● $900,000 for resurfacing of US 20 BUS from Shaw Rd. to Highline St. in Belvidere.
● $290,000 for resurfacing and shoulder reconstruction of US 20 BUS from Logan Ave. to Persson’s Parkway in Belvidere.
● $930,000 for resurfacing of IL 23 from IL 72 to North Grove Rd. in DeKalb County.
● $500,000 for resurfacing of IL 72 from State St. to IL 23 in Genoa.
● $2,770,000 for the planning and engineering and construction of turning lanes and improvements at the intersection of IL 76 and IL 173.
● $940,000 for turning lanes at IL 76 and Walnut Grove Dr. in Boone County.
