Ron Wait Wants Your Input on State Budget
Belvidere, IL… With the State of Illinois in financial shambles and no end in sight to the current budget crisis, State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) is urging citizens to give their input on how to get Illinois’ fiscal house back on track. A new website, www.reinventillinois.com, has recently launched and allows constituents to leave comments, suggestions and possible solutions to the current budget problems.
Rep. Wait: “We are in the middle of a Democrat Civil War”
Springfield, IL… With FY09 officially ended, Democrats in the State of Illinois have yet to come to an agreement on a budget for FY10 and are still leaving Republican lawmakers on the sidelines. State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) stands firm on his claims that spending reforms need to come before any tax increase is considered.
“Right now our job is to not put this crisis on the backs of our most vulnerable citizens and above all, not worsen this already weak economy by raising taxes,” said Wait. “Yesterday we had a plan in place that would have filled $2.2 billion in the budget gap that would have gone directly towards human services. Once again Democrat dysfunction got in the way.”
Rep. Wait to Quinn: “Cut bureaucracy, not human services”
Belvidere, IL… Disgusted with Democrat Governor Pat Quinn’s threat to cut human services, State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) is calling on the governor to stop playing games with people’s lives and start working on a fiscally sound budget.
“This is not a real proposal, this is a cruel game being played by Democrat lawmakers,” said Wait. “Quinn is not proposing we cut all the new spending for his pet projects, he is threatening cuts on the people who need it most.”
Rep. Wait Helps Defeat Tax Hike, Votes Against No Reform in Ethics
Springfield, IL… The Illinois General Assembly sent a budget to Governor Quinn this morning; however, without his 50% tax hike included. Key members of the Illinois House of Representatives, including State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere), voted against the Democrat Governor’s tax increase defeating the measure 42-74-2.
Wait to Host Office Hours in Communities Across the District
Belvidere, IL…State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) announced his community office hours schedule for 2009. Community office hours provide a convenient opportunity for residents to ask questions, share their concerns, and receive assistance with state government services.
Along with the community office hours, Representative Wait and staff also hold regular hours in his Rockford office. The Rockford office is open every Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is located in the Zeke Giorgi Building at 200 S. Wyman, Rockford, IL (815-987-7483).
“Community office hours make it easier for constituents to come visit me and share their concerns personally,” Wait said. “With gas prices climbing and busy family schedules, I want to continue to be as accessible as possible to those I represent.”
Wait Urges Support for Belvidere Chrysler Plant at International Trade and Commerce Committee
Springfield, IL…State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) passed a resolution out of committee today that urges local, state and federal leaders to work together to help keep the Chrysler plant in Belvidere viable.
House Resolution 339 calls on the State of Illinois and the federal government to explore all possible methods to keep the Belvidere plant open and productive. HR 339 passed the House International Trade and Commerce Committee 7-0-0.
Rep. Wait Honored by 173rd Airborne Brigade
Springfield, IL… State Representative Ron Wait (R-Belvidere) and other members of the Illinois General Assembly were honored today by the 173rd Airborne Brigade for their work on House Joint Resolution 107 from the 95th General Assembly. In 2008 lawmakers passed HJR 107 designating Illinois Route 173 as the 173rd Airborne Brigade Highway.
Rep. Wait on Ethics: ‘Illinois is in desperate need of change’
